HAPPY 2011 !!!

This New Year can only be good! That`s how I like to look at it each time it comes. Sometimes life changes that image but then life turns it back around again. My outlook for the new year is to be positive,upbeat,non-complaining or whining as my husband calls it, encouraging, helpful and loving. Nothing new about those things but new to me if I follow through on them all the time. Since I didn`t start on day one I am starting right now on day 3,time 1:00. Wish me luck or start praying for me as you read this for I need all the help I can muster. I love to read blogs and see what people are up to and lots of those blogs do encourage me to be a better person in so many areas like, like, like, well can`t think right now how they do but I do so enjoy reading them! Hope all who read mine will enjoy my ackward sense of humor and not be depressed if they too can`t be perfect. (They have my company).

Christmas At The Jordans 2010

We had a Wonderful Christmas this year with almost our whole family present. We didn`t have our North Carolina families here but my hubby and I went down there 12 days before Christmas. We left by car and visited our nephew and family in Va. then on to my sister and family in Burlington, N.C. and then to our daughter and family in Pinehurst,N.C. Our Grandson, Ben and his wife and our new Great Grandson live in Fayevetteville, N.C. so we had Christmas with them at our daughters place in Pinehurst. It was a special time seeing our grandkids and our Great Gandson and spending Christmas with them and their families, "A Special Moment In Time" I guess you could say. We arrived home three days before Christmas Day. I has most things done before we left for our trip so it left only little details to look after so as to be ready for Christmas Eve and Day here in Maine.

NORTH EASTER and KEEPING THE HOMEFIRES GOING!

Right now it is snowing like crazy and the wind is howling. We may get 18 inches of snow in our area. A true North Easter as we call them here in Maine. My husband has a plowing business and they have been out there plowing since early this morning to keep up with all the snow. In a storm like this they have to plow at least twice. A very long day for the drivers. Power outs in a lot of towns. We are prepared for a power outage. Water in buckets and a filled bath tub. I guess today will be spent inside cleaning up from Christmas and doing some craft projects. Hope everybody reading this had a special Christmas Day and that your New Year will be a happy one!

The Storm ended this evening and we got around 14 inches of snow. We didn`t loose our power though. With the winds as gusty as they were and the snow light and fluffy it kept the snow from building up on the trees therefore we didn`t have broken limbs that help cause power failure. It is very cold tonight going down in the teens and still somewhat windy. The guys plowed all through the day to keep up with all the driveways. They sure do earn their paycheck. Quite the crew! Just thought I would update on our Nor`Easter.

CHRISTMAS IN OUR COUNTRY HOME

FIRST TIME IN 47 YEARS THAT WE HAVE AN ARTIFICIAL TREE. I`M NOT SURE I LIKE THIS OR NOT. NO ONE HAS SEEN IT YET SO I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE THEIR REACTION. I `M SURE ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS WILL SAY "MOM"! WHY? BELIEVE ME NEXT YEAR IT WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL SPRUCE CHRISTMAS TREE AGAIN. CHRISTMAS IS A TIME FOR ME TO REFLECT ON HOW BLESSED MY HUSBAND AND I ARE TO HAVE THIS WONDERFUL FAMILY THE LORD HAS GIVEN US! 4 DAUGHTER, 4 SON-IN-LAWS, 1 SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW , 14 GRANDKIDS , A NEW GREAT GRANDSON AND MEGAN( MARRIED TO OUR OLDEST GRANDSON). WE DON`T ALL GET TOGETHER VERY OFTEN BECAUSE OF DISTANCE BUT WE STILL HAVE A LARGE FAMILY AROUND US AND GETTING TOGETHER MAKES MY DAY! I LOVE FAMILY GATHERINGS AND I GUESS I GET IT FROM MY MOTHER. SHE HAD CHRISTMAS DINNER AT THEIR HOME EVERY CHRISTMAS FOR ALL HER MARRIED LIFE, OVER 50 YEARS! SHE COOKED IT ALL FOR MANY YEARS.FOR MANY YEARS ALL WE DID AS HER CHILDREN IS BRING THE PIES AND PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE BUT IN LATER YEARS AS THE FAMILIES GREW(UP TO 45 PEOPLE) WE DID START HELPING WITH THE MEAL,(WE HAD TO HAVE MORE TURKEYS!) BUT SHE NEVER ASKED. MY FATHER ALWAYS HAD TO HAVE A CHICKEN COOKING ON THE STOVE TOP ALONG WITH THE TURKEY. MY MOTHER ALWAYS CAME THROUGH FOR HIM. WOULDN`T OF HAD IT ANY OTHER WAY. AS SOME OF HER 26 GRANDKIDS GOT OLDER THEY WOULD GO TO HER HOUSE AND HELP SET UP TABLES AND DISHES THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS.SHE WOULD GET OUT ALL HER CHINA DISHES. MAMMMA(AS WE CALLED HER) WOULD BORROW CHAIRS FROM THE CHURCH SHE ATTENDED ALL HER ACTIVE LIFE. WE WERE WALL TO WALL PEOPLE BUT WE ALL HAD A CHAIR TO SIT ON---ALL 35-45 FAMILY MEMBERS! WE FILLED DOWNSTAIRS AND UPSTAIRS IN THEIR OLD 18TH CENTURY COLONIAL HOME. CHILDREN WERE RUNNING UP AND DOWN STAIRS, ADULTS TALKING AND HELPING WITH GETTING THE FOOD ON THE TABLES BUT BEFORE WE HAD DINNER WE DID THE CHRISTMAS TREE. "MAMMA" BOUGHT GIFTS FOR EVERYONE THAT WAS THERE. PRESENTS SURROUNDED THE CHRISTMAS TREE. SHE WOULD START RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS AND BUY ALL YEAR SO SHE WOULD BE READY FOR HER DAY. WRAPPED THEM BEAUTIFULLY , TAKING PRIDE IN HER BOWS. DID THIS WORK ALL BY HERSELF. GOD HAD BLESSED HER WITH ENERGY THAT SUFFICED HER ALMOST HER 83 YEARS! THE LAST TWO OR THREE YEARS OF HER LIFE SHE HAD TO SIT ONCE IN A WHILE WHILE WORKING ON A CHURCH SUPPER. THAT WAS HARD FOR HER EVEN THOUGH SHE NEVER TALKED OR COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FACT SHE WAS SLOWING DOWN. MY MOTHER LEFT WITH ME A LEGACY THAT FAMILY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE. I WISH I HAD TOLD HER THAT BEFORE SHE PASSED AWAY SO QUICKLY. SHE MADE CHRISTMAS ALIVE WITH ITS TRUE MEANING---IT WASN`T JUST THE GIFTS, IT WAS BEING TOGETHER, BEING FAMILY! AT CHRISTMAS TIME MEMORIES OF MY MOTHER AND FATHER ARE VERY NEAR TO ME. IT WAS A SPECIAL TIME WITH THEM! HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WARM AND WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

my NEW SHOP!!!

We had a WONDERFUL open house these last two days and want to Thank ALL the people who took time to stop by. It was very exciting to see everyone. My FAmily was so supportive and all my granddaughters came and helped me out. My oldest granddaughter Breanna who is 17 brought homemade pumpkin breads and delicious white chocolate chip cookies. She also did some sales. Abby who is 15, made the most decilious candies. She worked all week after school , took off the week-end where she works in the FAll and came to help me. Her candies are wonderful. She is so good at making them. Taylor and BAiley 13 and 12 helped me today in the shop. While I do the talking, Which I`m good at, lol They did sales and bagging. Bailey had also made a blueberry bunt cake from scratch which to my dissappointment didn`t sell so I told her I would buy some for her grampa and I to have later. She was happy with that and took the rest home for her.My DAughter-in-law made pies for the bake sale part and then brought a lasagna dish for us to eat at noon. She`s more like a daughter to us. WEndy OUR daughter was my right hand. She does all my books and keeps everything straight. I don`t know what I would do without her help. All our daughters our so supportive.Got Flowers from our olderst daughter and hubby on opening day. I didn`t mention that our son Dan did all the electrical work for my shop. Took time from his work and week-ends to help me. Last but certaintly not least is my Hubby!! He has been remarkable. I didn`t know all the things he could do to help get me into this shop. I could go on and on of what he has done,and the ideas he came up with. I just love him so much for this! I guess I`ve rambled on enough,and don`t want to bore you too much. But anyways here I am A NEW SHOP OWNER!

P.S. I need to write this tonight. It is 10:11 P.M. and I just heard from my oldest daughter and husband. They are 15 minutes from reaching Ft. Bragg after driving straight through from Maine to North Carolina today, to be with their oldest son and wife who are right now tonight giving them their first grandchild , a grandson whom they have been calling for nine months CASH. Ben, their son when he saw the first sonagram thought he looked like a cashew , alias, CASH. I am so excited for Susan and "BRian that they are going to make it to actually be there when he comes into this world. The LORD is good!! Wayne and I are going to be GREAT GRANDPARENTS! Our first too! Ben is our Oldest grandchild. Oh how I wish we were there! But we are in Love!
